The 17-7 stainless steel grade is particularly well suited for high strength, corrosion resistant applications. It performs well at temperatures up to 600ºF. Fabrication processes are similar to other chromium-nickel stainless steels. A martensitic steel, 17-7 may not be suitable for environments containing hydrogen sulfide, as it may be subject to cracking.
